PostHeaderIcon Cervical Health Awareness

Thousands of women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year. About 99.7% are caused by human papillomarvirus or HPV. HPV can live in your body for many years. However, early detection and prevention can reduce your risk of cervical cancer.

Ways to Reduce Your Risk of Cervical Cancer
1. Get a regular pap smear test-talk to your physician if you are 65 or older regarding whether or not a pap test is necessary
2. Reduce the number of sexual partners-studies shows that women with several partners increases their risk of HPV
3. Quit smoking and avoid second hand smoke
4. Make sure to follow up with abnormal pap test
5. Educate yourself and other women about prevention and early detection
