Most injuries that occur at home can be prevented by making sure your home is safe proof. Here's a few tips that we assess in the home during our assessment.

- Make sure there is adequate lighting in driveway, walkways, and all doors
- Walkways should be smooth and level with no cracks or gaps
- All steps should have a sturdy, easy to grasp rails on both sides
- Remove all throw rugs
- Make sure stairway and hallway have illuminated light switches
- Use night lights
- If necessary, have an anti-scald device installed to prevent water burns
- Install a grab bar in the tub and/or shower
- Apply a non-skid mat in shower and/ or shower
- Make sure smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms are installed and working
- Keep a fire extinguisher in your home
